Anybody run LINUX as their primary Desktop?

I'm still looking towards digital downloads taking over. With Netflix and all the on demand services getting as advanced as they are, and the increasing internet speeds the end users are getting, I don't see much of a need for physical media other than archiving.

maybe try isorecorder instead of infrarecorder

Try burning a small dist like DamnSmallLinux first to test your hardware:
ftp://ftp.belnet.be/packages/damnsmalllinux/current/dsl-4.4.iso

Ir try the ubuntu wubi install for windows and then use your virtual Linux system to burn the actual ISO.

Fedora is cool. My first Distro was from a fedora book with a Boot CD. Is the update manager good in fedora now? The last time i tried fedora, the update manager was slow and would lock up your session for a minutes when you first logged in.

I don't know if it was just a bad disk or one made for security, but when I tried Fedora 9 I found the security settings much more instrusive than need be, I couldn't do anything that changed the system without a root account, and some applications wouldn't open as well. I tried to do the same things on Ubuntu and it wasn't as hard set on keeping me out.

I got my ubuntu 9 something laptop working now!

Using Fedora 11 (GNOME) now. It's one of the few distros that comes out of the box with WiFi working.

I just switch from Ubuntu to Debian Testing and my laptop volume and mute buttons work now.

Debian Testing Branch is a rolling update distribution so i should never have to do a dist-grade again.  

Their Firefox as IceWeasel thing is pretty silly.
