Saw Bruno earlier today, was quite good.
I don't believe it was as good as Borat was. Bruno is essentially the same premise as Borat, the plots do bare some similiarities too.
BUT THE THINGS HE DOES
Bruno does appear to use many more actors then Borat(which had 3 in all I believe). The use of more actors does make the film feel a bit more dull at moments. But I am under the impression he has done much much much more extreme things then in Borat.
However the many things Sacha Baren Cohen did were quite humorous.
Anyone else seen it yet?
Thoughts on it?

Poltergeist

Seeing it sunday, the trailers didn't make it look great but nevertheless I'm sure it will be entertaining.

TabascoClock

I'm watching it friday.

hunter s. thompson

It looks like its going to be good but I am going to wait for it to get to the internet.

patriotclock

Ill see it after I get around to Public enemies

camoclock is a great man

Bruno was hilarious but a bit too much over the top (see: Diesel, the penis on the TV show) at times.
poop

Yeah, sometimes I wondered if he was just trying to just go on a limb for the shock value.
I was quite surprised that he actually talked to the terrorists, makes you wonder the things he's willing to go through for comedy.
However the ending, that was an awesome ending.
Just the stupidity of some of the people in the crowd. That one guy that kept hitting his head and stuff like that.
that prolly didnt need tags

Thunderbolt

Im going to see it soon

AbsintheClock

I saw it today and thought it was pretty funny. Especially the use of the baby named OJ.

AMPEEEM

I saw it last night.

Better than Borat.

Laughed so fucking hard. The people's reactions are always amazing. Also, can you tell me every actor in Bruno?

Topcatyo

Saw it a couple of hours ago.  Crazy as hell, and the cameo by Tricky the Clown was unexpected.
It's a bit depressing how prejudiced people are against homosexuality.  That's not to say that Sacha Baren Cohen deserved most of the shit he got from people in the movie, though.

It seems like I lost you here. If you think the prejudice was bad then it would follow that you aren't saying he deserved the shit he got.

Not really.

He deserved the shit he got because he was deliberately being a dick. That's his thing. Anti-gay prejudice, on the other hand, isn't prejudice against people who are deliberately being dicks -- it's prejudice against people of a certain sexual orientation/identity, whether or not any given gay person is a dick.
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

He deserved a lot of the shit he got, but some parts not so much, like when he was chased down the street by a bunch of Jewish people (though, with editing and stuff he could have offended them off-camera in some way, who knows), or on the talk show when he says he's looking for "Mr. Right" and the crowd boos.
Also, I said he deserved "most" of the shit he got, not all of it.

Also, back to my opinion on the movie, it was hilarious but at times it seemed like he was doing stuff that was beyond ridiculous, like trying to make a sex tape with Ron Paul.  Those moments were funny, but goddamn.  Also, he seemed to be trying really hard to be just outright offensive at times.

I like how he told the audience they where being racist stating that the proper term is African-American.
The audience surprised me too, I don't think there was another white person on that show other then Bruno, the host and the television crew.

Yeah that was just out right ludicrous, it surprises me that there are still notable concentrations of populations that are against homosexuals and the sort.
A bit curious to see how long these concentrations will last.

That's what seemed like a downside with Bruno compared to Borat. It's just over the top and sometimes feels a bit unnecessary. The redneck hunters were another one that I believe he could of gotten more comedic value out of them without trying to go into one of their tents naked. The awkward silence was great though.
The inclusion of the God Hates Fags group was a nice but dissapointing touch. It would of been nice if they gave off a better reaction.

Bigglesnoots

I liked Borat better

Biblo

I doubt he'll do another one.
I definitely got the impression this one was very difficult. Did you notice that any of the improvised scenes were very brief, suggesting they had very little usable footage. They seemed to end up relying more on large staged scenes with an audience, such as the chat show the focus group and the cage fight

TabascoClock

Saw it yesterday, it was hilarious. In my opinion it was as good as Borat.

The redneck hunters moment of silence was definitely my favorite part of the movie.  It was hilarious.  I do feel he could have gotten more out of them, and trying to sneak into their tent just seemed really lazy and cliched.
Also, yeah, there definitely could have been more with the God Hates Fags group.  However, I'm a bit torn between that, actually, since he definitely could've gotten good stuff out of them, but at the same time they're such an easy and obvious target.

AMPEEEM

The thing that makes Bruno funnier than Borat to me is that in Borat people tried to be nice to him. People treated him like he was a child and played along more.

In Bruno, basically everyone just hates him.
