This is my first flash, I know it's crappy, but... yeah...

If it is your first movie ever it's actually not all that bad :D Increase the FPS to 20 though, never have it bellow 20.

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

All the cool kids use 24fps. Don't go any higher than 30 though, it stops making a big difference at that point.

Yeah it makes it lag,
24 is optimal, has to do with the numeric logarithm of the programming.

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

Even tv shows only do 24 fps.

actually ntsc standard is 29.97
I shit you not.

and animating at 16 fps is is an easy way to fbf with a sense of timing- seconds are the simplest unit of time, and powers of two are the simplest to animate
imho

with flash, balancing effort vs. visual aesthetic is really up to the animator.

I was referring to animated shows, is that what you're talking about? If so, that's really weird.

Slurpee

that's just the broadcasting rate

traditional hand-drawn cartoons are on film, which runs at a rate of 24 fps, and a lot of the time they'll be animated at 12 (background characters and objects sometimes going as low as 4) to save time/money.

shows that are animated completely digitally afaik all round up to 30

Q. Why was one of his eyes closed and the other twitching while he was hurt and flying?
A. Because you watch terrible anime. Stop watching terrible anime.

Not only that, but also because not everything actually looks better at full frame rate. It's best to work at 24 fps and double each frame unless there's a specific action that needs full framerate.

GamblerClock

Liked it, reminds me of the 1st movie I ever did but I didnt submit it to NG
