Well, l4d2 runs laggy on my pc, and portal 2 lags a little too. Dunno why

The guns in CS:GO are really good. Often, guns are a surprisingly neglected aspect of games focused entirely around shooting guns.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

So how am I supposed to know what guns to use in what situations in CSGO? Especially the pistols, I always just use the mac10 or the deagle. Why would someone pick the machine guns? And would you only use shotguns if you are designated to do something like defend a small room or building?

Although it seems easier to figure out than in 1.6 or Source.

And apparently Valve has not added sprays to CSGO. I find this upsetting.

Thor

The thing about Counter Strike is that some weapons are just way better than others and the only balance is how much money you have to spend on them. The Desert Eagle is the best pistol (or at least the most popular), but it's really expensive for a pistol. It's the best IMO because it can kill in 1 shot with a headshot. If you can afford it and aim well the AWP is the best rifle because it can instantly kill on a body shot. It's stupid expensive too though. AK-47 and M4 are solid rifles that are great all-around.

I usually go with duel berretas though and spend all the rest of my money on flashbangs which i use to annoy my own team though.

About valve.... they do NOT care about what your spray is. I've never heard of anybody getting their account suspended for that.

Alright thanks for the info man. I probably just need to play more to figure the rest out. I'm still stumped on the machine guns though, do they have any use at all?

The Tec-9 can do that too, though it does less damage on a torso shot than the Deagle. It has a 32 round magazine and costs only $400.

Anyway you can never go wrong with the AK or M4. The Galil and the FAMAS are good if you don't have enough cash for the other rifles. AWP if you're confident enough with your aim.

You can also just grab whatever and have fun (except shotguns since they suck).

I've actually been favoring the p250 for a pistol lately. It's got a fast fire rate, good clip size, good enough power to kill on headshot, and remains decently accurate while moving. Plus then you have enough money to afford a grenade with it round 1.

On maps with a good amount of opportunities for close to mid range combat, I've been favoring the MP7. It's a really good smg and rather cheap. Being an SMG it gives great returns on kills. (SMGs and shotguns give $900 on kill, rifles give $300)
On maps like Italy with mostly ranged play, I favor the Galil and FAMAS right now. I like that they are cheaper than the m4/ak and they feel like good alternatives.

Really in this game I don't feel pigeon-holed into getting DEAGLE AK/M4 AWP. All but a few of the guns feel viable.

EDIT: Also you may be surprised to find that the shotguns are situationally decent in CS:GO.

I choose my weapon based on the map and/or what spot I know I want to head for on it. If I'm heading for LongA on Dust 2 I might go with a rifle, but if I'm heading towards tunnels, shortA, or B I might go SMG. You'll just get a feel for it as you play. As for the heavy machine guns, every weapon has a defined recoil spread. Some guns have kind of a T spread shape, others deviate higher, others might deviate to one side and up. You have to learn the spread of your gun to be able to do anything but burst fire effectively. The HMG's can be used reliably in this game, afaik their spread heads significantly above the cursor. Here's a video of a guy stomping a horrible group of random pubs with it. Note that running around like this will get you instantly killed against teams with any sort of coordination.

EDIT: Also, sprays are in CS:GO you just need to manually turn them on.

If anyone has got sprays working in TF2 let me know how you did it, I followed the tutorials online and it only lets me spray the default marksman image. I know the problem isn't with my spray itself because it works in other source games and I also tried other sprays. I followed the directions to the letter and it doesn't work somehow. It seems like I need a way to specify what spray I want to use?

Try with spray makers (search it on google) you download the files and go to options, multiplayer, spray and select it an apply and try

Hmm, the spraymakers made the same kind of file I already have, so I'm sure th problem isn't the image itself. Also CS:G) has no UI options for selecting sprays, you can only enable it with the console

Thor

I know how to make sprays work. I'll message you next time you're on and explain it if you have any difficulty. Basically you need BOTH a .vtf and .vtm file put in /Program Files/Steam/steamapps/team fortress 2/tf/materials/VGUI/logos/

The .vtf and .vtm files for the spray must also have the same file name. So for example, if I have a spray of slurpeebutt I would need to have both "slurpeebutt.vtf" and "slurpeebutt.vtm" in my /logos/ folder. once you do that, they should both appear in your spray list.

Your spray list is located in the TF2 application under options -> multiplayer. You must select which spray you wish to use from that list. You can put as many different sprays as you want into your /logos/ folder and they will all appear on this list and work. Note though, that you can not switch sprays in the middle of a game. You have to wait for the map to change before spray changes take effect, or leave and rejoin the server.

http://tf2.explodingjelly.com/

I use the above website to make sprays in TF2 because it quickly and easily converts animated .gif images into animated sprays. It also has options to create fade over distance sprays and sprays with transparency.

Awesome, thank you Thor. I had it half working for a while with this method but I broke it. Now I can spray my stupid anime titty avatar all over

I gotta admit half the reason I want this is because it feels like Valve is telling me I can't have it.

EDIT: alright I got it working. I found a fix for people who keep getting the default marksman spray even after selecting your own file in TF2.

You should type in the commands like this:

cl_playerspraydisable 0
cl_logofile "materials/vgui/logos/yoursprayfilename.vtf
bind t "impulse 201"

Obviously 'yoursprayfilename.vtf" is the name of your VTF. You will have to create a directory called "logos" in your \Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\materials\vgui folder. I also added in the VMT file just in case. Press t to spray.

So it's a mod that replicates the first Half-Life but with HL2's engine? That's pretty sweet!

Lmao @ all the idiots complaining about having to pay 100 bucks to upgrade an account to submit to Greenlight.

If your game is so shitty you don't think a paltry one-time investment is worth it I'd really rather you didn't submit to Greenlight.

Most people who make indie games used to work at game studios and left, they aren't starving college students.
