Grenades: Huh? What? There's an achievement for doing something with grenades, so I guess we get them? Guess valve decided that whole thing about grenades being "too spammy" wouldn't effect soldiers much considering soldiers are already really spammy.

Well obviously. And for that matter I think that they're switching the shotgun taunt to something called the "21 gun salute"

Internet says the equalizer gives the grenade taunt. Instant kill to the soldier and everybody nearby.

I think in tf2 canon the characters know about respawn.

Well if it's "canon" that would imply a source by which we would determine this.

Canon is kind of confusing in this game because half the time characters are unique individuals (as in back stories and the comics) and the other half they're groups of identical individuals (as in some "meet the" videos and the newspapers).

In game though they either know about respawn or are all suicidal.
