I'm trying to figure out how a shoe would walk if it didn't had a foot in it. In other words, something is wrong with this but I can't figure out how to make it better.

Well it would have to bend a bit more for sure, Seeing how you are essentially a chuck taylor, You are about as thick as a pair of socks with a rubber sole, Keep that in mind.

Take a look at those feet. Because it's a bunny, the feet are large and exaggerated. Pause the video at different intervals to see what exactly a foot does while walking. I imagine a shoe would walk by itself the same way it would if a foot were in it.

I don't see your point. The exaggeration is just what he needs to get a visual of a foot walking.

AstronautClock

the walk cycle of the bunny is also very poor

Kaijuclock

Corpsy, I just zoomed in and watched it frame by frame, The feet on the main "human" subjects dont bend when they step. But the duck's and the Fox's does! i dont know about you but when i step my feet slightly bend, its not just the ankle bending, Its like they are stomping softly.

Sinister Clock

It's sort of moonwalking in reverse. It keeps going forward even though it's touching the ground which is pretty impossible. I mean yeah it's possible to slide but not with one foot on a normal floor.

Yes! This is what's wrong. It stops moving in the air yet it moves when it's touching the ground. Which is pretty much not natural at all. Thanks!

I could go for a regular bouncy kind of movement just like most clocks do I guess but seeing as how my guy is supposed to be a shoe, it would be kind of neat if it moved like a real shoe would (with a foot inside it but w/e). I'll keep working on this and keep you guys postedddd

The fox' walk cycle is pretty similar to the bunny's. The only difference being the amount of frames used and the quality of animation.

Gir has a point, the human's feet don't look right in that survival kit animation.

Yeah you don't mess with Richard Williams

Converse

The two middle men's walks seem kind of unnatural. Like their bodies don't have enough weight on them

SnakeClock

It's rising too fast. It's jumpy.

Also, why is it going "sproing" when it touches down?

Topcatyo

It doesn't land on its heel.  It lands on the front of its foot and then kinda just springs up.
You should have it land on it's heel and then have the weight shift to the front of the foot (shown by the bending we've discussed in this thread) and then the foot should rise up and, while in the air, rotate (on the way down) so that it's ready to land on its heel again.

I'd do a sample animation to show you BUT I AIN'T GOT SHIT TO ANIMATE WITH NOW.

Loki Clock

Don't use other people's drawings as life drawing reference. A drawing is an interpretation, which makes your drawing an interpretation of an interpretation. This is why people who draw anime rarely seem to grow as artists.

I got some flip books from my sister for animation reference from here that were really good. They're from the early days of film and animation.

Munglai

I can kind of see what you're going for. The shoe is rolling forward onto the toe and pushing off and that's fine, it's in the air that it gets a bit weird. You need to hold it in the air a bit longer and have it come down with the heel first rather than the toe. Forget about bounce and stuff until you get the movement down.

Thunderbolt

I think loki meens if your going for realistic dont use a drawing as a ref pic
but use a photo or movie as ref
because a drawing had already used a photo/movie as ref.
