The Cougar would have a newer motor, probably the one out of the 2011 Mustang GT. I'll be redoing the entire suspension system and braking to bring it to modern standards.

The 240z would be stripped down to pretty much nothing and have the suspension and braking reworked, the motor would be a RB25DET with about 11PSI of boost until such a time as I'm not scared to death to give it some gas where I'll be able to push up to 20psi of boost.

Both cars would have similar performance, the Mercury is heavier while the 240z is a small paper weight. Funny enough gas mileage would be comparable and really not that bad.

I own a datsun 280z and it runs really well, 116k miles on it, 1978 model. It's a fun car and looks way kewl but my problem with is its lack of space for hauling stuff/people.

I've actually thought about this, I would probably need to get another car if I went with the Datsun, however, I can easily make the Datsun into more of a track car and just get another daily driver car.

Basing it just one looks, I'd go with the blue one. The red one looks more classy, but being the kid on the inside I am, the blue one looks coooooooool .

IMO cougars are some of the best looking cars of all time. That body is so slick.

You fix that baby up and it'll turn heads. Just don't skip on a nice paint job. ( I assume that picture isn't of the exact car you're going to get)

Going by the pictures you posted, the Cougar is a lot nicer. If you're talking about a Datsun without the ugly nonsense on the front though then I could be swayed that way.
