I just noticed that the more elite the forums became the less a lot of productive people started coming to them anymore. I've never seen an incarnation of the cc that flourished from being forced to do anything. I think in the past the idea was just fresher and funnier. It kinda became a bandwagon that got over used and watered down. Don't get me wrong here I still see good stuff a lot when I pop in, the atmosphere has just permanently changed. I mean back like ten years ago when I logged on there would be people posting every minute and just overall a lot of activity flash and talk wise. I just don't see the point in alienating the new people actually interested in the clock crew. But then again I don't know these people and I'm just a fossil at this point.

Quote from: clammo;1801349cc has always been elitist as hell. remember the ccc or how about grapes and f8l banning everybody they didnt like?

Yeah but at the same time back then it was at it's peak of popularity and there was a new idiot to flame every day. Now like someone here said there's like five new members a year. I say just ignore and erase their posts and they'll go away for lack of stimulus. Otherwise give anyone interested a shot. Back in the day it definitely needed some cleaning out then, not to mention f8l and grapes were funny with it. I don't remember ever being banned but I'm sure I was and permabans were never permanent. I dunno maybe I'm just remembering what I want to lol.

DigitalLemonClock

the core issue, in my eyes, is the entire concept of a clockcrew in the year of our lord 2011
BAN EVERYBODY

Quote from: clammo;1801370well we'd rather turn away awful new members than alienate and push away the people that have been here for years. its a matter of them adapting to our ways and not the other way around.

its also a different mentality these days. grapes would give people huge red titles saying like "THIS IS A SHITTY POST DONT READ IT" and those people would be ashamed of it and want to get rid of it by being better. but when i do it to people like paranoid, they just embrace their shitty posting and use it to draw attention to themselves.
ITT: 13 year old boys were much more easily ashamed of themselves 10 years ago.

In all seriousness though, in 07-08 i was ashamed of myself for being so shit and being flamed provided me the motivation to continually attempt being a better member. I'm still not quite the user id aspire to be but I appreciate all the shit people gave me for being terrible when i joined.
In my defense, though, i was 12 at the time.

Quote from: clammo;1801375youre the last person who should be talkin about how people were when they were 13, because you were one of the worst ever.

He admitted that at the end of his post.

Quote from: RibsClock;1801393People don't want to come to a dead site.

If you want people to come, you can't kill the traffic. The CC has always had crappy newbs here and there, and as long as they don't have the run of the place that's something it can deal with.

You said yourself the very reason why IC died and never became the main site. The object is to take advantage of the benefit gained from .cc's larger userbase, not to drive it away.

I don't expect this to mean much to you coming from me, hell it never has, but what the clock crew needs is more life and vigor, not more alienation, ostracization, and drama.

On that note I'm going to quit talking and go work on flash.

I have to say I agree. But at the same time an idea like the cc was sort of designed as a short term joke that took off more than anyone thought it would. I thought it would have produced the next big thing by now and I mean something not gay like the lock crap. But instead it's to a point where every obscure thing has a clock on it now. I just remember getting knowledge from soup and passing it on to cloud and it just felt very supportive for a while there. But things get stale and need new blood. Like from what I see that blob guy is more deserving of the clock title than I am even though I've made flash years ago. Once again I'm not around much so what do I know?

BobbyClock

You're still keeping up with this shit, Clockcrew? It's not the same without drama, true, but fucking hell, pick a new goddamn topic.

Just administer a backhand. Perhaps people aren't replying to your attempts to curb the shit because you're too busy fighting amongst yourselves, in broad public, and taking it all too seriously with this ridiculous 'official clockification' bullshit. I mean, for fuck's sake, our animations used to troll people who took Newgrounds way too seriously, and now here we are roleplaying some pathetic dystopia king-of-the-shitpile and somehow confused as to why people are laughing.

Go back to enjoying yourselves and stop fighting over some piece of shit internet heirarchy.

I edited it in directly after i posted it, and you posted a minute after my original post- doesn't give me much time to type.

Does it matter? Really? Does any of this matter? I think we should all just drop our weapons of verbal abuse and just spread the <3 .

Though I agree with you 100%... you and a couple of the other guys were told 100 times to stop trolling and insulting others.

It doesn't matter what website you go on...  whether it be a social network or forum or whatever... pugnacious behavior is simply not fair to other people that patronize that site.

You seemed to receive the message loud and clear. You've been pretty awesome this month, IMO.

Sunny G is my buddy... but he acted like he didn't give a fuck about getting kicked off the site... so the site granted his wish.

Quote from: ScrewdriverClock;1801040What I find funny is amidst all of the whining as a result of my actions, I have yet to receive a complaint from Blob, Paranoid or Vuvuzela, even when discussing this with them.
Even if I wanted to complain, i was banned.
but im excited for this! Ive been working on my flash everyday :)

I think if anyone has left because of new people it isnt because they annoyed them it's because they just no longer identify with the people who have that new found love for this concept. It's always best when you first discover it. I still have love for the clock but I'm just older amd dealing with real life now. People simply move on. A future in animation isn't there for all of us. But yeah as an oldie I say embrace those interested and nurture them into something productive or let them fade away as the nothing we all are anyways really lol.
