HI! Do you have anything you want to be able to do with CC's ?? Any Ideas? Post them here! - Also appreciated are any ideas on how you get to earn CCs. I have a few ideas but I want to see what you come up with.

I should probably mention that CC's are "Clock Credits" and a system we had back in '05 that allowed you to earn and spend virtual credits on fun things throughout the site, and also gamble them at a casino.

VuBawlsClock

a)spend them on setting the fun fact of the day (module on front page idea!?!??)
b)Spend them for announcements
c)Maybe something like spending a lot for having  a new flash submission plastered on the front page or something
d)CLOCK JUKEBOX?!?!? (Like  a diner jukebox?) Everybody online can hear whats being played on that said jukebox?

I'm just typing a million at what came out my mind

Also for earning, submit flash, if it passes, you get more.
We could have poker? If we get the arcade, would it ever be possible to do something like that?
Fuck Steven Universe

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

The maximum allowed CCs should allow you to buy an admin position, but if you do it just links you to some YOU LOSE picture with the fun question mark laughing audio playing. You still lose the CCs.

Thor

Acquiring:
Flash contests
Submitting movies to the portal
Participating in colabs
Posting (1 per post with a maximum per day)
Winning them in the CC arcade

Uses:
Name changes (will help reduce smod begging a little)
name color change
colored/animated gif user titles
Permanently add an emoticon to the forum (with size restrictions)
purchasable award of Scrooge McDuck's head
Nude pictures of Tom Fulp
Access to a subforum of the spam forum

EDIT: The day you implement CCs add a scrolling marquee to the top of the page. For a modest sum of ccs you can change the marquee to say whatever you desire. However, since it's cheap to change it'll change almost constantly, and anything bothersome will go down almost instantly.
Quote from: MafiaMettaurWhat the hell is with that shit you posted? You know what, I'm joining the Locks, just to stop stuff like you!
Quote from: polyhedronclockYou're a fucking clock, what else do you have?
To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

The reason people tend to be against credits is because they believe it harms flash productivity. I don't buy into this theory, but I can at least see where their concerns are coming from. So here's a neat idea. While CCs can still be earned through standard means (site features like the arcade), it will be in extremely scant amounts. However, users can earn much larger amounts of credits by submitting flash, contributing to collabs, and helping out the community in general.

The rewards would also have to be worthwhile things that people would really want to strive for, but this seems like a fair trade-off if we can have our cake and eat it too.

Quote from: KarkasmolenKlok;1840639The problem with it is then people are encouraged to submit tons and tons of individual flash over putting effort into any one thing. It rewards the barney bunch approach over the StrangeClock one.

That's a good point. Maybe the reward for just submitting could only be earned once on a weekly basis, while users can get better rewards for getting a high-scoring entry / daily award / other type of nik-nak? Just enough to get people submitting semi-regularly without disregarding overall quality.

The CRCequation, my man, the CRCequation!

QuoteOnce the portalgrapher is installed site-wide, it'd be easy to run a query and check what the user's score was when it passed judgement. The score could be thrown into an equation that would calculate a reasonable sum of CCs for the submission, taking into account the number of flash movies the user submits per month/year of course. [ ... ] I call it the CRCequation

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

RupeeClock movies get high scores.
GreyClock movies get low scores.

Basing the CC awards on score is a flawed system.

clockradioclock

Clock-based scores!

I don't think a custom clock scoring system would be hard to implement. I remember having plans to do such a thing after we ported my old portalgrapher onto this site

That opens another issue: One of our unspoken standards is voting 5 on all Clock Crew movies. So why wouldn't we give each other the highest possible scores for earning CCs?

Also, we may run Newgrounds, but we sure as hell don't want to BECOME Newgrounds.

Instead of a voting system, a system that takes favorites into account. Greyclock movies are probably favorited by as many people as the number of users who favorite Strangeclock / Munglai movies. It would be a custom favoriting system since I don't think it's possible to access NG favoriting stats.

In this way, no one is forced to 0 or 5 a movie that they perhaps don't like too much, but they'd be able to tell the author, "hey nice movie have som epoints," if that's what they wanted to say

AmberArachnidClock

It should be based on the number of times you click your mouse when you work on a flash

Topcatyo

What if we had a banker position, or mods just have the banker position.  If they see a member of the community doing something they feel is worth CC's, they click a button and give that person CCs.

I also like clockradio's idea of the favorites system, although I do think score should be factored in (albeit less so) because higher scoring clock movies still get us exposure.

Also, large CC bonuses for accomplishments like getting frontpage or an award on Newgrounds.

AstronautClock

if you have enough CC's you can scatter another user of your choice for a day (even admins wow!!)

We can use our poll system to do in house favorites IMO. We upvote all clock movies, but we distinguish our own within house.

I really doubt that.
Regular movie 0-5
Movie about Triangle 10
Fuck series 20-35
Awards/flukes 20-118

Clock Crew: Pointillism Era.

It's really hard to come up with a system that's not a ton of work, like with shadow elections and flash-rating councils or whatever. I mean I get the objections against using the Newgrounds score, but on the other hand Rupee probably spent a lot more time on his average movie than me.

The more time you spend on a movie, the higher the score, the lower the flash output. (More or less.) And vice versa, so maybe it kind of evens out anyway?

DWARFINATORclock

as ive said in the grid before, give out ccs for participating in events like clockday, have non clocks buy clockification with ccs

for people that are already clocks idk

PolyhedronClock

A group based system would be cool, where it tallies up the CC's of all members in a certain thing. The groups would only count the amount of CC's everyone in the group has, and limit each person to one CC tally group.

honestly this wouldn't serve a purpose outside of running silly little mob groups where YOU DON'T ASK QUESTIONS OR YOU GET TO SWIM WITH THE FISHES.

RobClock

It seems like alot of these ideas would create/support elitism.

I like that idea Dwarf had though.

Personally, I think that if they do come back they should be souly attached to an arcade system. I've been led to think there was a slot machine type thing at one point? That seems like the best application of them.

There's a lot to be said about supporting elitism. I think that a good start would be to create consistent groups for people to keep working for that allow more privileges than the basic user so that people have something to get out of working hard. Create a goal for something Clocks will usually work for aimlessly. A gun with a target does more than shooting one off in celebration.
