The three games in question are:

  • Paper Mario
  • Mischief Makers
  • NFL Quarterback Club '99

What games should I get to bolster my collection a little? Rareware titles have circulated through my collection a lot, such as Conker's Bad Fur Day and Diddy Kong Racing (it's actually uncanny how often I've clamoured for Rare's N64 games), but what are some other titles worth pursuing?

Seconding these. Also Get Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, Banjo Kazooie, and Banjo Tooie. Those are my favorite 3D platformers of all time.

Those are some that have crossed my mind of late, especially Banjo-Tooie. That game is, as Humba Wumba would put it, "big heap fun".

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

Banjo Tooie was amazing, it improved on everything the first one did. It was a perfect sequel.

I had both of those and I traded them. :p

Topcatyo

I have never traded a game in my life.  Not even A.R.M.O.R.I.N.E.S. (which was awful) or Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse (which was awfuller and a gift)

Quote from: TequilaClock;1816788In my opinion, Jet Force Gemini did not age well, so I suggest you to avoid it.

PilotWings 64 is a pretty cool title. It got a very relaxing touch to it, and I actually like to explore the maps they made. Even if we are talking about 64 bit polygons from 1996, they are very interesting to check out. Surprisingly well detailed.

Uhh let's see...

FZero X is pretty cool for the high speed racing and crazy ass maps.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards has AMAZING graphics for the Nintendo 64, they almost look matching for the GameCube standards. Plus it's a very solid action game with a very unique power combination system, and the music is pretty rad. One of the best in the whole franchise, seriously, get it.

Super Smash Bros, duh.

Diddy Kong Racing is.... pretty cool actually. I haven't played it again in a while tho, so I cannot ensure you if it still stands as good as before. Needless to say the music is greaaaaat.

I COULD recommend Perfect Dark, but already got Goldeneye, so it would be pointless imo. Perfect Dark is ok, but not THAT good. I actually traded it to someone for Paper Mario.

Toy Story 2 was also pretty amusing. Then again, not sure about the aging. Boy, the Nintendo64 got a big problem with the way most of their games aged.

You could get Pokemon Stadium 2, I guess. It's got the improved rule set of the original one. (i.e. Wrap does not prevent your Pokemon from attacking anymore, etc)

I am not sure of how good Excitebike 64 really is, because I only played it once in 1999 or so, but I had fun with it.

Mischief Makers is a very, very recommended game by many. I still want to give it a shot myself, but from what I have seen it does look very fun. Also, one of the few games in the system where they use a lot of sprites in it.

uhhhh

I remember playing Star Wars Episode I Racer a lot back then but I always sucked at it, lol. Goes pretty fast.

FloundermanClock does not stop recommending Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon enough, it looks genuinely great. Kinda rare, so good luck on getting one on a good price.

Ogre Battle 64 is also very rare, and generally expensive (around 45 bucks a cart-only). Got pretty fancy sprites on it.

Mario Party and Mario Party 2 are super great games, possibly the best of the series. Sometimes harsh on the joystick spinning, but really solid party games. Especially with friends.

Just avoid Mario Party 3, they altered the game a lot, and they removed the purpose of collecting stars and coins after the end of a board completely.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is told to be one of the best games in the console. Although you might get it on almost any platform now, including the freaking Nintendo 3DS. Ubisoft never gets tired of making ports of this game.

I think that's all I can think of right now.

EDIT: Ah, Knockout Kings 2000 is just a personal favorite. I wouldn't say it's the best game ever as it's a simple boxing game with celebrities of the sport on it (Muhammad Ali, Butterbean, Hollyfield, Tyson) bu I enjoyed it quite a lot. Can get hard on the joystick spinning when they knock you out, tho.

Also, I guess I could mention WaveRace 64, but I never played it. Although I DID have WaveRace BlueStorm and I loved it. Many people just love WV64, so I dunno.

There.

SockpuppetClock

I literally have a carton full of N64 games right behind my chair, sux2bu

but here are some games that aren't necessarily a given that I've found, but I remember getting most of the games rented from Blockbuster or whatever so I can't say how much games I've actually played (I remember counting 90+ SNES & N64 games)

  • Toy Story 2 (only if you can't get it for the PS1)
  • Hey You, Pikachu!
  • Star Wars: Episode I: Racer
  • Bomberman Hero
  • Pokemon Puzzle League
  • Donald Duck Goin' "Quackers"

Also if you don't get a Gameshark I don't know what to say, it's by far the most valuable thing to have

RobClock

I whole heartily recommend Dr.Mario 64, if you're into that sort of thing.

BluezombieClock

Why is nobody backing me up on Conker's bad fur day? That game was BEAST.

Jet Force Gemini didn't age well? That game was never good in the first place.

"Hey, play about 9 levels and have a lot of fun blowing shit up, then play those 9 levels over and over again repeatedly collecting little bears that are scattered throughout every area in the game, and if an enemy shoots one of them (and some of the enemies are designed to do just that) you have to go back and start that specific area all over again and collect everything."

"Oh, how long will it be before I get to playing the actual game again?"

"That's it.  That's the game.  You collect bears."

Oh I still need to try that one. I love the Dr. Mario games.
