I'm getting the opportunity to get flash in the not too distant future. I have a preference towards Flash 8, but because I know a grand total of fucking nothing about any other versions, I wanted to ask if there was a better choice or if it was a matter of taste as to which version you guys use.

I think the projector idea has a lot of merit. While expensive, it does have the advantage of animation. Also, incidentally, the ATHF "bombs" were just LED lights hooked to a battery, nothing complciated. Sitting down and figuring out how to build them would probably only take an hour or so, and for that matter, one could google how to make them and where to find the proper materials.

A friend of mine read the first post over my shoulder and he's currently frantically trying to find the school so he and a bunch of other people can mail thousands of Jesus drawings to it

They're not particularly helpful.

So here's the deal. The program that we're using to learn flash is bunk. Yesterday it managed to freeze up and subsequently crash Flash CS4 a grand total of four times, and today it managed to kill CS4 twice. The program itself came with no resources for the instructor and does not spell out instructions for the students very well (or at all, in some cases).

Needless to say, an alternative must be obtained. Does anybody know of any decent textbooks for learning flash that don't cost astronomical amounts of cash?
