Quote from: Losperman;1255912Alright, I bought three cheesy cards and a giant pack of animal stickers. I got the animal stickers because it has both camels and lobsters. :)

I'm filling them out now and sending them out in the morning.
That's awesome :D

I considered posting about this behind The Green Door, but something about that seems potentially dangerous.
Quote from: GreyClock;1254235Comic Book Guy doesn't contribute content. We do. A whole lot. We submit our work for free. We are giving Newgrounds thousands of hours (well maybe not thousands) of entertainment for free.
Oops. I forgot that the rest of you make content that isn't crap like mine.  :o  The Poochie Defense works for me, but not for everyone.

I think I reacted pretty harshly to this, but I was kind of shocked to see Tom speaking so negatively about the CC, and like I said, I feel getting hosting from NG was a huge deal for us -- it meant stability, no more worrying about hosting bills and the often unreliable people responsible for them.

That doesn't mean I want to bow my head and trade in my ideals for the sake of keeping it - if Tom were to start laying down rules and trying to govern things on this site, I'd be ready to pull out. But throwing it all away in defense of inconsequential portal spam - which only first happened in 2005, it's not like it's one of the foundations of the Clock Crew - I'm not cool with. The way I see it, Tom's done a great deal for us over the years, most of all seeing the humor in our stuff while heading a site whose visitors mostly hate us. That should've earned him some understanding, and gratitude - which is not the same as obedience. I guess the issue largely comes back to disagreement on what the Clock Crew is / should be all about. We're never going to agree on that.

I think, with what he's seen of the CC lately, and what Rupee's been putting into his head, Tom's gotten the impression that the crew's had a turnover of members, and the Clocks he's spoken to in the past have left. Obviously that's not right, so it would be nice if he's set straight on that.

edit: VVV ah well hrrm. Jesus. That kind of makes everything I've said in this thread besides the point, doesn't it.

edit2: and yeah, Tom should understand that we govern our own affairs on this site.

I talked to Tom and he said he was more annoyed at Rupee being kicked out than the portal spamming.

DarkMatterClock

has rupee seriously kissed enough ass to get tom mad that he was banned?  i should think that we have a right to ban people from our site.

Since when does Tom control who we do or do not accept as members? What the fuck?

He doesn't, he was just expressing his opinion.

By threatening to cut our hosting.

AlbinoClock

Apparently I am unable to stay away for more than a day and a half.

Quote from: StrangeClock;1254193Anyway, would it be a big sacrifice to, for the sake of keeping the peace, say no to non-Clock Day spam events? I mean of course filling up the Portal with crappy movies, not something like PSA Day or holidays when people are making movies with effort. Camel Day seemed to pretty much just be "I'm bored, let's spam something". I don't know if there's much fun to be had when it's just an exact repeat of Duck.fla Day and Wade has the whole situation suppressed before the day's over. Plus, doing it a second time gives the impression that we're going to be making a regular thing out of it.

I think it might still be funny, if our group wasn't so big that we force Wade to sit up and take notice.

There were a number of camel movies that weren't spam. I doubt that whoever decided to delete them (whether it was actually Tom, like Wade said, or if he did it on his own) actually watched them first. If they had, I'm pretty sure a few of them would have been left.

Quote from: Sir Bakley;1255922yeah while i'm out protesting a religion with a bunch of nerds from the internet, what really screams 'serious business' to me is a little clock crew forums drama

i love you albino but cmoooooon

There was nothing serious business about the Scientology protest. Not to say we weren't making a serious attempt to do something, but I wouldn't call it serious business. We were singing and dancing to Rick Asley and eating cake. We put 30 Anons in a Wendy's bathroom. We went to GameStop and asked for Battletoads. Not serious business. Also, we're protesting the corporation, I could give a shit what people choose to believe.

Quote from: GreyClock;1256549By threatening to cut our hosting.

In all fairness, that was a PM to Rupee that got leaked, not an official declaration. You're right though, Tom doesn't really have any business telling us how to run our community.

Quote from: Δ;1256693Banning everyone who doesn't want to go in your personal direction, as Renegade suggested, goes directly against Article I, Section 3 of the Clock Crew Charter.

Quote                 3. Registered Community Members have the right not to be arbitrarily                  banished or shunned from the community.

Not quite, banishments such as I'm suggesting would be rare, only under dire circumstances, and collectively decided upon, not just because we feel like it. The idea is that if someone is using our forums as a launching pad to attack Newgrounds to the point where Tom is complaining about it then we have to take responsibility as staff members to reprimand such persons.

Quote from: Δ;1256978You guys are trying to take the Clock Crew in a direction it doesn't want to go, and if you keep it up, you're probably looking at another clockgrounds/.co.uk/wtfnoob split up, and we all know how well that went over. A lot of people have been talking about it already (that means more than just me).

I don't think that's a bad idea at all. If we have different ideologies then why should we be constantly butting heads in the same forum? It's like trying to get the Catholics and Protestants to go to church together.

DWARFINATORclock

Let everyone make the kind of movies they want to make and stop being nazis.

StrangeClock

Quote from: Δ;1256978StrangeClock are you really going to go all super baby mode over a domain redirect? I'd really lose all respect for you, and anyone else for that matter, who wants to submit to Tom's bullshit just because he hosts the site. I didn't put up with it for Bit, not doing it for Tom either, I don't give a fuck what kind of internet celebrity he is.

I overreacted, especially because the issue turned out to be not nearly as dramatic as it seemed, but in this situation I did not feel the integrity of the Clock Crew is so threatened that it's either stay rigid (give Tom the finger because he dares to be negative for once) or break (obey the word of Tom from here on). I don't see the amusement in making a regular thing about spamming the portal, though maybe I kneejerked at that, because other people really do have fun with it. Anyway, internet bullshittery and all, I have a degree of respect and appreciation for Tom, for what he's done for us, and I'd not be prepared to just forget all about that because he says something we don't like.

He does own the domain name now, by the way, but I've no doubt that even if he'd kick us off the server, he'd give us the name back right away.

edit: errr but I guess you can't read this anymore. I need to stop posting in here anyway because I said some overly forward things and now I'm just being a broken record.

By the way, I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, how did IIDX get a screenshot of Rupee's PM? If he got into Rupee's account, that's rather fishy; if Rupee sent the screenshot to someone, that's quite as gay as Cadillac's troll thread on the NG bbs.

Quote from: LeekClock;1256291I talked to Tom and he said he was more annoyed at Rupee being kicked out than the portal spamming.
Well... Rupee was unbanned on... the 10th, and today's the 20th, and his last activity was on the 11th.

So, if Rupee's gone, doesn't it kind of seem that it's because he finally got the sense that he's not wanted here, and not because we explicitly "kicked him out?"
