Quote from: peyote;13126881 american dollar = 1.0003 canadian dollars, i like how you made a thread regarding a very minute market fluctuation.

also roman may i remind you we have universal healthcare and are currently fighting a war. also we hardly even have half as many people you guys have to drive the economy, sorry about your countries poor state of affairs though, it must be great piled on top of each other especially when no one is going to the doctor because it costs too much.

I did not know fake medical care was fun, I guess Canadians like paying more for everything including taxes?

PS Darwin studied as a clergyman and was religious until eventually just becoming agnostic, never athiest, so using Darwin in an argument against God doesn't really hold anything to it.

The two most annoying debates you can have on the internet MASHED UP INTO ONE

Agnostic is just another way to say a "trying to please people"-Atheist. Atheism isn't a belief, it's the lack of a belief. So the "we're saying you can't prove it either way" doesn't make sense, as if either side provided proof then the Atheist  would simply adopt that belief as it makes more sense. I have not met a single atheist who would ever blindly advocate atheism if God smacked us universally over the head and told us to get our shit straight.

Not that it matters in either case, though, considering two things:

1) It's not on a personal level.

2) It's a fucking joke (<-- Typed before reading "That is a funny picture though").

PS: The Pound has always been stronger than the Dollar.

Quote from: The Prince of All Cosmos;1312637Sweden is a welfare state and is also a Socialist nation as well, much like Canada.
They pay 80% income tax.
So, we're better than Sweden.

Yay, disinformation.

    * 0 % 0 till 17 100 SEK
    * 31 % (Landsting 7 %, Communally taxed 24 %) + 200 SEK: 17 100 to 291 800 SEK
    * 31 % + 20 % (State Taxed) + 200 SEK: 291 800 to 441 300 SEK
    * 31 % + 25 % (State Taxed) + 28 280 SEK: 441 300 and more

However the added on taxes aren't a base amount, they only apply on the amount that exceeds the designated brackets. I know we have high taxation, but we also have one of the best welfare states in the world and it's not like we're hurting for cash.

Quote from: VCRClock;1312701OMG WTF LOL 0.999 = 1 :eek: :eek: :eek:

1/3 = .333 true
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 3/3 = 1 true
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = .333 + .333 + .333 true
.333 + .333 + .333 = .999 true
Therefore .999 = 1

False, the reason we use "1/3" is because decimals are not accurate enough to denote such a number. Anyone claiming otherwise is merely playing with semantics and is ultimately wrong due to simple concepts that cannot be altered.

All the .333's and .999 are continuous forever, not JUST to the third place.
.9 (repeating to infinity)= 1 if you want to get all technical.

Dudes I was completely kidding about trying to start up one of those annoying 0.999 =/≠ 1 arguments so here's a Wikipedia article on the argument. Knock yourselves out.

Except that something partial cannot be infinite which makes the play of semantics false when taking this into regard aswell? If it was part of the infinite then it would never be referred to as a partial in the first place.

We have our logic thinking for a reason, and anyone telling me that something less than one can equal one due to a formula, then they are wrong. Nothing to discuss until they find an anomaly in physics that would fluctuate something in that kind of frame, then sure, we'll adopt the nonsense.

Slurpee

if you put a 747 jet on a giant treadmill as wide and long as a runway, and the treadmill is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction, can the plane take off?

Quote from: Slurpee;1312977if you put a 747 jet on a giant treadmill as wide and long as a runway, and the treadmill is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction, can the plane take off?

Yes because the part touching the treadmill does not provide the thrust.
lemayo lol :soups:

SoBe Clock

Quote from: RomanClock;1312998Yes because the part touching the treadmill does not provide the thrust.

No it can't. If the treadmill keeps it from moving even with forward thrust, there will be no wind moving under the wings to provide lift! The force that lifts the plane is the wind moving under and over the wings because of the forward motion that the engines provide, not the engines directly lifting the plane.
