Every guy wants to be his  friend and every girl wants to date him. Understandably Slurpee is not a  very happy person.

If by style you mean hair stylists dedicated to pampering their million dollar asses every hour of the day so they don't look like one of those dirty folk from the city.

And this is why Billie Jo Armstrong is not punk. He was mentioned in "My Immortal", for one thing. :p

PowerGloveClock

the only excuse there is for not dressing like dirty city folk whilst being in a punk band is if you're in the misfits

Finally, somebody that agrees with me. All of you people are just saying you hate it because you want to be cool. I recently got back into Green Day once they announced their new album at the Grammys. I can honestly say American Idiot is the only album where I enjoy every song. While some aren't great as others, (Letterbomb isn't that great), they have some awesome ones (Whatshername, Jesus of Suburbia, Homecoming, Give Me a Novocaine). When's the last time you people just sat down and listened to a full song. You guys are entitled to your own opinions and all that shit, just keep it to yourselves.

wooo you go girl! speak the truth!

IvysaurClock

It was way too overplayed. The songs that didn't have video clips, yeah, they were alright, but the ones that got radio coverage kinda made my teeth bleed with anguish.

They were good songs originally, but not the 50th goddamn time.

If it's in Latin it must be sophisticated, therefore ad hominems are sophisticated arguments.

Yes. It's OUR fault that you have bad taste!

They didn't dress like dirty city folk?

overplay never is and never was a good reason to dismiss a song/album

(not saying they're good songs mind you)

Overplay only demonstrates how great or how shitty the song really is if you strip away its novelty.

it can still cause self-deceiving, however

You're their target audience and we aren't. Unfortunately for you, the opinions of grown ups are more accepted than the opinions of teenagers, otherwise we'd all look like dicks.

SnakeClock

Quote from: RibsClock;1540302You know there's plenty of really good songs that I don't ever want to hear fifty times in a row.

In a row, probably not. Or heard on The WB or on a car commercial.

I think there's a difference between "overplay" and "overexposure". Some songs play all the time on my local radio stations and I still crank it.

But hell, anything could get old if you encounter it too much, it just seems like it would be worse if the song was just constantly advertised, exploited or flaunted, rather than just heard, especially if you didn't think much of it to begin with. ;)

SnakeClock

Quote from: RibsClock;1540326Okay, take any classic rock station for example.

Now I like AC/DC. I think they're great old guys who had a unique sound and have carved a great legacy for themselves.

But do I really want to hear "shook me all night long" three times a day?

No, I guess not. This is the same reason I can no longer stand Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog".

Though I didn't think much of that tune to begin with.
