Just more proof gun control doesn't work.

EDIT: When you make guns illegal, only criminals have guns :salute:

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

Murders with firearms (most recent) by country:
U.S. - 9,369
U.K. - 14

SOURCE: The Eighth United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (2002) (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Centre for International Crime Prevention)

A tad outdated, but you get the idea. ;)

EDIT: The United States accounted for 45 percent of the 88,649 gun deaths reported in the study, the first comprehensive international scrutiny of gun-related deaths. (1994).

Murder rate in the US per 100,000 people:
5.4
Murder rate in the UK per 100,000 people:
2.03

Not too big of a difference, especially considering that the United States has an estimated 247,369,292 more people in the UK, and that's just counting legal citizens, and while that may not seem like it should make a difference considering murder rate is calculated out of numbers of people, the United States has a far larger population density, and more people living in one area means more crime and murder.

So, even with legal possession of firearms, the murder rate in the United States isn't all that bad compared to the UK.

Honduras has the highest with a murder rate of 58.

All this info is from Wikipedia and I'm pretty shit at finding stuff on the Internet so I could be wrong.

BUT GUYS STOP FIGHTING

I didn't make this thread to create a US vs. UK argument.  Fuck, I didn't mention the US anywhere.  Some guy went on a shooting spree and killed 12 people and injured 25 in a country where guns are outlawed, this is news, dammit.

I've read some incredibly poorly-written news article on occasion and I wonder how people get payed to write that shit.

MonsterMunch

This tends to happen almost every decade. Michael Ryan in the late 1980's, The Dunblane massacre in the late and 1990's and now this in 2010.

Ironically I feel safer living in Manchester then in the country.

Yeah but hardly any of those are gun crimes because of the UK gun laws. Most UK murders are being knifed or beaten to death. People will always find a way to kill each other.

I have government clearance to thin the number of mancunians in the country down to a steady number.

I know, I was merely stating that saying there's more gun crime in [insert country] than in the UK is like saying there's nicer weather in [insert country] than in London.
It's clear there's not going to be as much gun crime in the UK than in the US, but that doesn't mean the murder rate is going to be exorbitantly higher in the US like the post makes it seem.
I was merely pointing out.

Makes sense.
