Wow it looks like they actually made an effort to blend the gameplay with what's going on on the screen this time. This looks really nice. I just wish it wasn't all so fucking generic. I can't understand why anyone would want to play a game set in a completely standard fantasy world.

because its standard and popular for a reason.

what is that reason?

AMPEEEM

everybody likes it

Well "everybody" is pushing it. And I'd say history shows that taking something that everybody likes and putting a few innovative ideas into it always gets stronger reactions and creates bigger fan bases than stuff that just plays by the rules and does a decent job of it. I don't see why they couldn't have just been little bit creative with it.

YoYoClock

Yeh that's the reason I'm not too interested. Obviously the graphics are better but as far as the actual world is concerned it just looks like oblivion again, and that was dull as shit man, just mountains and trees

Quote from: pop-tart clock;1905428I think yoyo is the best one.

I heard that Bethesda has been looking at the most popular mods for Oblivion and have been integrating similar concepts into Skyrim. Apparently there's a magic ring somewhere which gives you infinite magic and life as well as lets you bone an animé cat girl.

well you obviously haven't seen the steampunk enemies.

I need this game. I just don't know if I buy at launch so I can play over Thanksgiving break or if I wait till Christmas and save money

Marlin Clock

If it looks good once my friend gets it I'll get it during christmas break, but no sooner.

buttplug

Why does the crusty old north full of drunken Nords have better ancient architecture than Cyrodil?

Asshatclock

How hard will it be for me to get into elder scrolls if I have never played any other game in the series ?
I tried oblivion back when it was still hot but couldn't get into it, I want to get this but I want to be sure I like it, there's a lot coming out this month and I want everything :(

youll be fine, the narratives are somewhat separate, and the games are only getting easier to get into.

I always liked the "standard" because I could get in there and get creative, do something funny. There are countless memories of doing as many different combinations of actions, abilities, and item types to make my experiences unique each restart within the same exact universe. I expect only more of this, with at least twice as many new areas to explore. I guess it takes a little bit of creative thinking for games that give you lots of options for them to be really fun.

Yeah like Dragon Age 2.

It was a bold step turning a game with strong RPG mechanics and a large variety of locales into a bad fucking sitcom with three corridors and a smug cunt for a protagonist.

Quote from: SatelliteClock;1874128well you obviously haven't seen the steampunk enemies.

I hope you're joking. A couple of those abandoned cities looked nice but steampunk can get fucked forever.

The fact that you're free to play out the story you want is something that I really like about these games, the problem is there's no way I would ever come up with a story set in a watered-down version of Middle Earth otherwise. I just don't see how you can be excited to discover stuff if you've seen it all in a hundred games and movies already.

That doesn't sound too innovative.

Not to mention taking out tactical view. That alone guarantees I will never play it.

Bioware really dropped the ball on that one. Actually, they threw the ball against the wall and tried to make a new one out of macaroni and tears.
