I have a serious aversion to the whole "we invented this and that" and "we were raped by them" mentality. It leads to some really moronic claims*, like "we invented the souvlaki." Why? Because you happen to live in the arbitrary nation (or general geographic location) where some unknown person made the very logical choice to skewer meat on a stick 37 centuries ago? On top of that did the underlying archeological find really capture the first time a human being did that ever? Or is it just the earliest assignable instance that we happened to actually uncover? Claiming the invention of abstract concepts adds another layer of stupidity. Ancient Greece is the earliest assignable instance where it was formulated, at best. Let's examine "freedom" in it's most basic form: a caveman lying in the tall grass of a sunny vale. A brook babbles, birds chirp. No responsibilities, no obligations, not a care in the world. Another caveman walks up and asks: "What are you doing?" "I have no idea, it hasn't been invented yet." Here's another hypothetical: if you're a direct descendent of people who moved from Austria to Greece 300 years ago, do you have more of a stake in the invention of the Apfelstrudel or the shish kebab? The answer is (c), it doesn't fucking matter, you didn't invent shit, stop using it to define your identity.

* & worst case scenario, to blind hatred and hostility.

Hey ZL how did PAX go?

It was really good! The booth was understaffed so I ended up spending the entire time selling wares. But I like that part.

PAX people are so excited about everything, it just puts me in a good mood. And the books sold well, so I feel a smidge closer to actually being someone who sells art/games for a living.

Also, looking over the indie video game booths realllly got me psyched to try and get Goblin Diplomat there, next year or the year after. I want to construct a little goblin yurt for people to play the game in.

By the end of it I was literally limping from being on my feet for ~25 hours over 3 days, which probably gives away that I haven't worked retail before.

wow. so much anger.

well, first of all, half of my post above was written as a joke, in the terms of ''look how awesome xxxx is, and we have invented ''everything''!''(but as a joke), while the parts about musical instruments of byzantium/ancient greece were purely informational.
the part about greeks inventing horizontal skewers/souvlaki was also posted as a cool (fun)fact, and more in a ''tongue-in-cheek'' manner, and NOT in a ''im better than thou'' attitude.

ofcourse, do i claim that we invented everything? no.
do i know that the earliest recorded use of horizontal skewers, doesnt make it (necessarily) the first one? (or the most important one?)? yes.
but, i like to sometimes be happy with ancient greek ideas and inventions, much like every other culture does, (china, japan, italy, france, spain(before the rise of religious fanatism+aftwerwards), portugal, persia, arabic countries(before the rise of religious fanatism), russia, and many other countries that i might forget.

every person is proud/happy about his country's inventions/innovations, and im no different.
however, most of my previous post above was written in a  funny manner, and not in order to ''claim'' an ''intellectual superiority'' over someone else.
(that would be wrong.)

also, i should state that the part that ''we invented freedom as well'' was a joke as well, and i can't believe that you took it so seriously. son, i am dissapoint(ed)(by you).

last but not least, if i was a direct descendent of people who moved from austria to greece 300 years ago, i guess i would love both countries, and i would be proud of both countrie's innovations+inventions/achievements, without having any preference of one over the other.
i would just love both parts of my culture. would that be wrong?

dude, you need to calm down. deep breaths.

guten tag.

WHo would win in a fight between all four members of the A-Team and Mr. T?
do you mean all four members of the fictional a-team fighting mr. t, or do you mean they're all fighting each other, or do you mean the actors from the a-team including mr. t fighting an additional mr. t, or the a team with two mr. t's all fighting each other, or do you mean all four members of the a-team fighting mr. t but mr. t is on both teams, or do you mean the a-team from the reboot where b.a. barracus is played by quinton "rampage" jackson?

GreyClock, you are a known weirdo who made a metric ton of shitty trolling movies, I can't believe how serious and angry you are getting in this internet forum spam thread! Critiquing and logicking shit to death is my idea of fun, sort of like a crossword puzzle at breakfast. There's no real point to it, but it's a way to pass the time. My post was an assortment of ramped up, semi-sincere observations wrapped in vitriolic shtick, because that's funny to me. So you calm down you bucket of regurgitated pond scum.

He was going for the intentional irony of answering an accurately worded explanation that could sound angry by giving an accurately worded explanation of how angry he was

I doth fear that it does appear I've been hoist'd by my own retard.

wait nooo i meant bb10

curse my refusal to use punctuation or capitalization when i'm sleepy

so i'm kinda into yoyoing (nobody's perfect) and one of my favorite things is when someone's reviewing a yoyo and they will just take a minute to stop what they're doing and just go to fucking town on it. like one second they're a normal ass person saying things like "yeah it's good but the weight's really evenly dispersed so it's not the smoothest or most stable. watch" and the next you're watching the world championships

I mean, most of the time these people will have a lot of videos like this so you really can tell, in the context of their other videos, when things are moving faster/spinning longer/requires less regens or snapstarts, but i was compiling a list of the most ridiculous examples of the Friendly Review Championships To The Death® when i found this video

[u2]2Legx8EL24c[/u2]

and will post that instead because honestly it's more important

Me too :hi5:. What I meant was that I misinterpreted as being genuine his ironic misinterpretation of my semi-ironic anger, ironically of course. Hence hoisted by my own petard, or in BB10's case, retard. Which is a joke I stole.

I was a kid in the 90s so I was into yoyoing as well. I had two, one was a 3-star Black Mamba, is that name you recognize as an enthusiast? I see it has a page on yoyo wiki, which tells me there was a better 5-star one so ugh... The other was some brandless one that was almost featureless, red and blue, flattened sides, kind of heavy, smooth and insanely fast.
