Quote from: Thor;1806018I'm so sad they're taking out custom spells. Designing obscenely powerful game breaking spells was the only thing fun about being a wizard in elder scrolls game.

True that.

Sometimes it was fun just adding tiny details to make the spells look cooler like applying chameleon to a shock spell or adding a 1-damage/5 second duration fire spell to yourself while simultaneously summoning a dremora so you look all badass when summoning.

MonsterMunch

The main reason I'm looking forward to TES5 is doing the daedric shrine quests.

Fuckin' love that shit.

assuming those are even in there. Oblivion focused heavily on the Daedra as it made sense to the overall plot of the game but Skyrim is taking an entirely different approach. I'd be surprised if we even see Daedra in Skyrim (other then the ones that are Conjured) due to the planes of oblivion being forever sealed with the death of Martin Septim.

I never thought of this. It's brilliant.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

They've been in every TES since Daggerfall so it would be a shit move to cut them out. If anything there is more reason for shrine quests with the daedra trapped in oblivion. They'll need mortals to do their bidding. I'll even go as far to say that Mehrunes Dagon will probably have a shrine quest in Skyrim.

I just don't see them focusing on Daedric shrine quests this time around. I'm not saying I don't want to see them but I'm not expecting a whole lot of Daedra in Skyrim. I'm expecting Dragons and their kin.

i don't think he expects them to focus daedra, we can expect there to be some shrines though.

eh that was kinda vague I suppose.

What I meant was that I don't think they'll spend as much time on daedra shrine quests as they did in Oblivion. Cyrodiil is naturally going to have shrines of Daedra as the Ayleids worshiped the Daedra as opposed to the eight divines. When men drove the Ayleids out of Cyrodiil most of their culture, structures, and shrines remained.

Ayleids are not native to Skyrim, though interestingly enough I don't think they were native to the Vvardenfell province of Morrowind yet Azura has a shrine on the southeastern coast of the region...

I dont know. We'll see.

"Magnetism", fancy way to say extreme aim assist

They probably removed friendly fire because bethesda sucks too much at programming to make AI that doesn't blindly run through your line of fire.

The rest of it sounds very nice though. Especially the parts about the vendettas and the towns actually being different (rather than the same town over and over like in Oblivion)

the magentism feature makes sense to me

with a gun you can aim with x,y coordinates to a specific place

with a melee weapon you make a line across the screen, causing damage in a places you might not intend to

I have always been a big fan of Bethesda, I played every single Fallout (Even the shitty and inconsistent Bos and tactics), but I have never played Elder scrolls, my friend wants me to by Skyrim when it comes out. I always thought it would be like some WOW stuff, so I didn't get into it. If I buy skyrim, will I understand anything, or do I have to play through earlier games?

buttplug

Bethesda has nothing to do with Fallout 1, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. They just bought the name and used it to make a mediocre TES clone with guns.

And then Obsidian came along and showed Bethesda that they actually still own Fallout.

BluezombieClock

I really enjoyed Oblivion, the first and only other TES game i played. I'm sure to like this one

The way I worded that was pretty confusing, im bad at late night and drunk posting. What I meant was I liked all the Fallouts, and I like what Bethesda did with the series when they got their Bethesdian hands on it, and they didn't screw all the time line up. And even if its a TES with guns, at least there are FUCKING LASER BEAMS. I mean looking at the earlier fallouts and the newer ones, were comparing turn based crap to actually fighting (cept Tactics),
Also, if you were trying to name all the Fallout games you missed Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. Obsidian screwed that game up bad, IMO. I think Obsidian made more mistakes with the series than Bethesda.

Obsidian made 1 Fallout game, dammit.

*Edit* Also, Fallout 3 was really broken and filled with pointlessly easy gun-play. At least NV added some challenge and had a story that made sense.
