Quote from: Floss;1366455I saw an Imax midnight premiere.

It was the definition of bad ass, best superhero movie since "Darkman".

Let me do a magic trick! I'll make this pencil disappear!
I actually have that movie. It was pretty good for an eighties flick, messed up too.
Quote from: joliet_jane;1367879Like a lot of movies, this is being hyped way too much.  But it really is a great movie.

There is a score-free chase scene in this movie.  Brilliant idea; it really creates a lot of nervous tension removing the music.

I think the bombs on the boats thing was a little too much.  Why no hesitation to blow up the convict's ship?  Sure there are some guards on there, but given the situtation, the innocent civilians obviously come first.
Could you kill hundreds of people in cold blood?
I loved that scene. I have a thing about choosing the noble path in morality choices.
The prisoner throwing away the trigger was great in my eyes.

I was thinking, in ultimate irony, the Joker would have rigged it so that was the trigger to their own ship. I don't think that was the case but I thought that would have been a fitting addition.

Just got back from it, gonna spoiler tag my whole post.

Aaron Eckhart played a fucking amazing Two Face.

There's only one thing I can think of off the top of my head that I didn't like, and that was the people imitating Batman. What the shit was that all about?

What I found fucking amazing though, is the fact that the Joker was funny. He was doing horrific things that I and the rest of the theater laughed at. "Wanna see a magic trick?" It was an amazing leap from Burton's Batman, which had to insert musical sequences to make the Joker funny in the slightest.

Ledger and Eckhart definately, without a doubt played the greatest Batman villains outside of comic book form I've ever seen. They practically were the embodiment of their comic book counterparts and I don't think their performances as those characters can ever be topped, not even in the next Batman remake most likely to come around 2026. I don't care for the Nolanverse's Scarecrow though. He's got the role down, but to me he simply does not look right at all. Scarewcrow is lanky, tall, and older looking. Cillian Murphy has none of those three attributes. Thank god he wasn't there for too long in this, playing with any more characters would've mucked up the plot, as much as I love the Scarecrow.

This film is the first thing I've ever seen hyped up the ass for months upon end and then have it still exceed my expectations. Truly incredible. I wanted to see it again as soon as it ended.

It was from 1990 and yeah, it's like the perfect crossover in Raimi's career, like a stepping stone from Evil Dead to Spiderman.

The inclusion of Scarecrow at all was puzzling.  He's there for one second, then he's gone the next.
Scarecrow's voice (with the mask on) was  always badass, though.

Really? It looked eighties. But I guess 1990 would still have some residual eighties, especially since I bet production didn't start in 1990.

Status Report: I HAVENT SEEN IT YET!!!

Give me a score out of 100

99.5

It still exceeded my expectations even with all the hype and viral marketing stuff. It loses 0.5 because I felt that one aspect (that doesn't really matter) was pointless. That aspect mattered so little though, that it's just me nit-picking. I covered it in my censored post, but don't read it until after you see the movie.

Spoiler Alert: Bruce Wayne is Batman

Fun fact:
Before the movie I was taunting my cousin (who I saw it with) about how I knew one of the major spoilers of the movie.  I sent him a text message with that in it and he said "God, dooon't!"

Hahaha, I've never met someone over the age of 10 who doesn't know Bruce Wayne is Batman. It's like the sky being blue.

No, he knew (we watched Batman Begins two days before watching this), but he said it because he was worried I might be a dick enough to actually spoil something.

Side note: Don't constantly say "Why so serious?" to little kids then ask them if they want a permenant smile. Then laugh like The Joker. It creeps them out. Atleast my nephew any ways lol.

I enjoyed the quiet hum which slowly grew to a piercing screech every time something epic was about to happen (usually between Joker and The Bat)

Also, Commissioner Gordon saved Batman's ass.
Joker: "Can you just give me a minute?"

I kept imitating the Joker like that in front of my little sister, complete with the weird noise he does with his tongue and cheek, and she hit me for it.

My nephew just fell on the ground and curled up in a ball. Nothing like getting them scared of clowns at an early age. Didn't help that he brought up a webpage and it had The Joker on there with his crazy look, etc.

hahahahahaha

You can make kids scared of anything. My uncle got my cousin (his son) to be afraid of the Easter Bunny when I was little, I shit you not. And there's that one science experiment with the mouse and the gong that made a kid afraid of mice and other small, white, fluffy things. Some lady psychologist found out a way to reverse phobias some years later, fortunately.
