Quote from: loki_clock;887859Yes, but now you are actually legally unable to equate it in worth to gold.

Yes you can, just go buy some gold. I've heard plenty of commercials talking about investing in gold.
lemayo lol :soups:

QuoteBut how do you know it's pure gold? How do you know it's worth as much as he says it's worth?
I'd like to call the case of Archimedes vs. Goldsmith to answer the first one.
And for the second one, that's where judgment and bartering come into play.

They can confiscate it. It's now illegal to possess it.

Ok lets get a few things straight. First of all Jesus is not the sun. This is proven through recorded history that there was a man who was a rabbi. His name was recorded as Jesus of Nazareth. Second of all Bethlehem is ambiguous in it's meaning. It not only means house of bread it also means house of meat. The stars do not look like a slaughterhouse in the sky. In fact it only translates to house of bread in Tiberian Hebrew. Jesus according to his geography Jesus probably did not even know a single word of Tiberian Hebrew. Pretty much all the other comparisons to Vishnu, Set, Buddha, The ice cream man are all bullshit. I could spend hours debunking that.

Second of all your currency at least at the moment is fine. The government is not going to punch your mother in the face because you got her a gold necklace, or that your father collects gold coins. Last I checked we've also got Fort Knox which must be useless as tits on a bull if all this is right. In which case I want to talk to the guy who runs taxes.

9/11 being an inside job? This is more and more speculation bullshit.

I don't have a hell of a lot of time at the moment, but I'd just like to note that I wasn't saying the middle class is in a shitty situation, I'm saying the lower class is. In a country where there is so much wealth, there's no reason that people should be starving on the streets.

If people starve on the streets its because they want to. The only reason I can think of is that the city is so bad it doesn't have a soup kitchen or that some people don't want help. I don't know where you are hearing this from :\

Roosevelt did it April 3, 1933. If people start switching to gold and the dollar loses it's power over people, the Federal Reserve can pull it's weight and make it's doggy confiscate it again. The old dollar was exactly as it said it was - a certificate for gold or silver, payable on demand. It was a reciept for the material you turned in for the sake of regulation, and thus a usable monetary system of reliable worth. Now that gold confiscated all that time ago is officially theirs. Sure, you can buy gold from someone else. But that entails that they have gold, and also that your dollar is worth enough to them to part with their universal currency.

It's all okay, as long as that entire class we drove out of their homes has a soup kitchen to feed them! Sorry Roman, no one starves to death because they're too swanky for a soup kitchen.

1. "We" did not drive them out
2. Did I say poverty is good? I think not.
3. There are people who don't want to get help, believe it or not.
4. Where are these people that are starving?

This means we can't go into a store and pay for groceries with a gold bar. This doesn't mean we can't sell the gold in order to get the money. Gold still has value but not as a means of currency. Even then it is impractical because of inflation to mint coins out of gold and use it as a common means of trade. Not only that but that ammount of gold does not even exist. Most money in the world is in fact not even physical money it all. It's numbers really. But these numbers represent a means of an economy that has outgrown physical money. This is something that has never been done in the history of mankind.

Every big city has soup kitchens, which is where I see the biggest concentration of bums, and even then, all they need to do is take a few garbage cans or something and do some act that garners giving charity.
If they make it out to look all disheveled and ask for money they might not get it as easy as someone who actually tries to get money through work, seeing as they can get the basic necessities in specified areas of the city.

Mostly I believe those who don't try don't because of the reasons people fear giving money to the homeless.

Tell me, would you want someone that has a beard like Gandalf and hasn't bathed in a decade to serve your customers food? Or for that matter, would you give them a desk job, one where you'd typically expect a suit, bath, or even a relevant resume? You have a very small window of joblessness before you can ever expect to get a new one.

Americans give nearly $300 bil in charity each year.
If we say that 5% (thats probably inflated) of Americans are homeless and need food/shelter
And we say $200 bil goes to outside the US (also probably inflated)
300,000*.05 = 150,000 people
$100bil/150,000 = $665 free from charity alone
You can get a healthy meal from a soup kitchen for free or food from some stores for a dollar or less.
Then after that there are still countless government social programs.

They may be getting free food, but they're still homeless and unemployable.
