Sometimes I'm listening to music and I'm like hey wait a minute that sounds very familiar, but I don't know if it even is anything, because I am a musical illiterate.

I don't know about music
I don't know about meter
I don't know about tempo
I don't know about staccato, tandem, or syncopation
I don't know about pizzicato, I don't know about tremolo
I know what a bar looks like, but I couldn't tell you what it is or what distinguishes it from any other demarcation of a series of notes
I don't know what constitutes a key or a scale
I don't know what texture is
I don't know the difference between a riff and a melody
I don't know what the treble clef means
I don't know the difference between a snare and a hi-hat
if a melody (riff?) is changed to split a quarter note into a double-eighth note, or sometimes even  if an entire bar is reduced to one sustained note, I might not even notice

that out of the way, my guess is those songs are played on similar instruments (seems like everything in the 60's had that shitty shrill organ just sort of shouting over the rest of the music. sorry it's annoying and I hate it) but the most crucial thing I noticed is they both have that bit from Funky Town. not the bit from Funky Town, the one from the chorus like "(DUN dunuh) won't you take me to (DUN dunuh) Funky Towwwwwn?" That DUN dunuh bit is in both of the songs you posted

Hammond it's called a Hammond organ and I hate it
why's it called an organ? it doesn't sound organic, it's a series of narrow shrill noise blasts
it is not pleasant nor does it pump you up, it sounds like a church organ trying to sound like rita repulsa

""""""greatest""""""" yeah OK 1960's pretty sure I'm glad this shit died with you

Sometimes I worry about Chris Houlihan. Do you think he's still alive? Do you think he's played Breath of the Wild? I hope he's okay.

Chris Houlihan and Kurt Zisa were sent to a farm upstate where they can run and play all they want

to be fair, a hammond must (always) be combined with guitars/drums/bass riffs, for maximum effect.
when it stands alone in solos, its getting a bit weak. but its a nice organ, and it makes a cool sound, so i like it.
its good for classic rock/for the blues.

Same, also yeah the DUN dunuh, that was the specific part I meant, which in The Doors song sounds the same but just a little faster. Then again it's like two or three notes... (I don't even know.)

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

I didn't know any songs focused on hammond organ sections long enough for people to form an opinion on them. it's always something in the background or that blasts in for a few seconds before the guitar takes over again.

How can someone be that good at editing and at the same time be so terrible at font (color) and text effects selection.

You know those sites that have multiple lines of news posts (webcomics do this a lotâ€"Penny Arcade definitely does) but they'll have an RSS feed that consolidates all of the site's posts into one spot?

I want an RSS feed like that for 4chan. I won't even look at it and I haven't been on 4chan since high school except to shitpost on /f/ annually, I just want it.
